Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how PortfolioPulse (also known as 私账本; the “Extension”) handles information when you install and use it from the Chrome Web Store or as a local/unpacked build. By using the Extension, you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
PortfolioPulse is a personal investment tracking Chrome extension. It runs entirely in your browser as a Manifest V3 side panel. There is no required user account and no developer-operated backend for storing your investment records.
2. Information the Extension processes
The Extension only processes data you choose to enter or import, such as:
- Investment records (e.g. product name, platform/broker/bank, amounts, dates, returns, stock codes, NAV, deposit rates)
- Optional notes, DCA (dollar-cost averaging) schedules, and settlement status you set
- Images you select for on-device OCR, and Excel files you select for import or export
The Extension does not request access to your browsing history, website content in other tabs, or your clipboard. It does not collect analytics about how you browse the web.
3. How information is used
Data is used solely to provide Extension features on your device: calculating returns, ranking holdings, showing summaries and charts, OCR recognition of screenshots you choose, Excel import/export, and related reminders (e.g. deposit maturity). We do not use your investment data for advertising, profiling, or sale.
4. Storage and location
Investment records are stored in Chrome extension local storage
(chrome.storage.local within your Chrome user profile on your device. They are not uploaded to
developer servers and are not mixed with ordinary website cookies or site localStorage of other origins.
In non-extension development mode, the app may fall back to browser localStorage for the same
local-only purpose.
5. Network transmission
The Extension is designed so that your investment records, screenshots, and Excel files are processed locally and are not transmitted to our servers. OCR (Tesseract.js) and spreadsheet parsing run inside the Extension. If Chrome itself updates the Extension from the Chrome Web Store, that is handled by Google’s update mechanism and is separate from your ledger data.
6. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your investment records with third parties. The Extension does not send
business data to third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Permissions are limited to
storage and sidePanel as declared in the Extension’s manifest.
7. Your choices and control
- You can edit or delete individual records at any time inside the Extension.
- You can export Excel backups and choose whether to keep or discard them.
- Uninstalling the Extension removes its local storage for that Chrome profile (Chrome’s normal uninstall behavior).
- Data does not sync across devices unless you manually migrate a backup.
8. Children’s privacy
The Extension is intended for personal investment tracking by adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
10. Contact
For privacy questions about PortfolioPulse / 私账本, contact the developer via the support email listed on the Chrome Web Store listing for this Extension.
